Description and Objectives
The mission of Diabetes Free DFW is to provide education on how lifestyle changes, such as a healthy diet, exercise and stress management can combine to provide an effective long-term therapy in the treatment and prevention of type-2 diabetes.
Ruthie Guten, Certified Integrative Health Coach and Lifestyle Educator, offers classes, workshops, individual and group health coaching programs, grocery store tours, pantry makeovers, corporate wellness coaching, and public speaking. She is dedicated to providing education and support to people with Type-2 Diabetes and those that are at risk of developing Type-2 Diabetes. Her intention is to provide the necessary tools to her clients so that they will feel empowered to make the necessary lifestyle changes that will reduce their risk of getting diabetes and reverse high blood sugar levels.
The rate of new cases of people with Type-2 Diabetes is growing at an alarming rate. New drugs are developed and prescribed every year, yet the problem continues to grow. There is a proven solution. Studies have repeatedly shown that therapeutic lifestyle changes can help reduce high blood sugar, which increases positive health outcomes. With healthy lifestyle habits, those that have or are at risk for developing type-2 diabetes can return glucose levels to a normal state and even reverse it entirely.

Diabetes is the underlying cause of many chronic diseases that have the potential of devastating impacts to those affected, to their families, employers, and community. Besides the pain and suffering that the patient and their families endure, the cost to society and the financial impact to the economy are tremendous.

The Impact of Nutrition and Lifestyle – Focus on Diabetes (a 12-week program)
Ages 16 and older. Learn how healthy diet, exercise and stress management can be combined to help treat and prevent type-2 diabetes. Cost: $240 ($20/weekly module).
Ages 16 and older. Participants will learn to improve eating habits, better understand their bodies, and make self-care a priority.
Participants will set goals, learn to reduce cravings, increase energy, feel better, and improve personal relationships.
Meal Planning Made Easy
Ages 16 and older. Planning your meals in advance can effectively slash your grocery bills. This weekly planning workshop will help participants discover the importance of meal planning and how to plan meals effectively. Each week, participants will receive guides, tips and tricks to save time and money.
