Food Focus: Strawberries

strawberriesStrawberries are one of the best things you can feed your body everyday. They are low in fat, sugar, and carbohydrates but have been known to pack a great punch when it comes to the benefits.

  • They are high in Vitamin C, Folate, and Potassium.
  • They are great for repairing your facial skin. (A puree of strawberries with plain yogurt makes a wonderful facial mask).
  • They provide a boost to the immune system.

The next time you feel a cold coming on simply go and pick out the best looking container of strawberries and eat them up. It will give your body the boost it needs to heal itself and it tastes better than the medicines in the pharmacy.

Recipe: Strawberry Yogurt Smoothie

Strawberry Yogurt Smoothie

strawberry smoothiePrep Time: 5 minutes

Yield: 2 servings

Ingredients

1 cup vanilla yogurt (or 1 cup plain yogurt with a dash of stevia and 1 tsp vanilla extract)

1 cup strawberries

Directions

Mix in blender for 1-2 minutes and serve.

Note: You can add other ingredients for added nutrition such as nuts, a banana, a spoonful of bee pollen, coconut oil, flax seed oil, spirulina powder or a scoop of protein powder.
